In 1998, the Friction Stir Research Lab (FSRL) was created to advance the revolutionary technology of Friction Stir Welding. From its inception the FSRL has produced hundreds of papers, several patents, and many graduate students. The FSRL continues to push the envelope in the development FSW technology. The FSRL now has the capacity to develop Refill Friction Stir Spot Welding and Additive Friction Stir Deposition technologies. Our extensive work in a variety of materials and alloys; gives us unique experience that allows us to tackle any project. Currently the FSRL works heavily with the aerospace and automotive industry and has several industrial partnerships across many engineering sectors.
